Entecavir is predominately used to treat chronic hepatitis B infections. It is an anti-viral medication that helps to prevent the virus from multiplying and spreading to non-infected cells. It does this by confining the transcription and reproduction of the DNA in the multiplication stage. This drug is not a cure for this condition but a means to manage it. Those who have HIV and/or AIDs can also take this drug but it is not meant to actively help towards these conditions. |
